They may be labeled as outcasts or rebels, but in reality, they're the ones who are brave enough to challenge the status quo and forge their own path. Let's celebrate the black sheep in our lives - the ones who inspire us to think differently, to question the norms, and to embrace our individuality.

Mighty Joe was executed for stealing N10

Image
Mighty Joe was executed for stealing N10 Isiaka Busari aka Mighty Joe is known to be one of the most violent armed robbers, a criminal who unleashed boundless terror on many Nigerians in 1970s. Emmanuel A. Walter from Lagos in this piece examines who he was and what did he do that his name was associated with so much notoriety. How Mighty Joe became the defacto king of the underground Shortly after the notorious kingpin of armed robbery in Nigeria, Ishola Oyenusi, was executed, his second in command, Isiaka Busari, better known as Mighty Joe, took over the scene and became the defacto king of the underground. Nigeria was still coming out of the pangs of the civil war and with the death of Oyenusi, they thought the era of violent crimes had been nipped in the bud but little did they know that another hoodlum would spring up and become deadlier. In Mighty Joe's gang were ex-soldiers who were demobilised and with their knowhow in the handling of guns and other deadly weapo

The Torture of Isabel Rodriguez

The Torture of Isabel Rodriguez The Torture of Isabel Rodriguez .” (1870). The Torture of Isabel Rodriguez Isabel Rodríguez, also known as Isabel Rodrigo, was a Spanish nurse, explorer, and doctor of the 16th century. She was the "mother" of 16th century military medicine When author Anna Lanyon looked for information about Malinche in the Arvchivo Historico of Mexico City, she found a land grant for a woman named Isabel Rodriguez. She had come with Cortés from Cuba to take care of wounded soldiers. The records called her "the famous woman who cured wounds during the wars of Conquest." These land grants were common, and Malinche, herself, received woodland beside the wall of Chapultepec after she was married to Juan Xaramillo. In addition to her son with Cortés, Martin, Malinche had a daughter, Maria, with Xaramillo. Other than these few notes, there is little on the women involved in the conquest. She was a member of the expedition of Hernán Cortés to M

In some cases, security agents requested the delay of court sessions leading to the loss of scars from beatings or other forms of torture. Amnesty has also documented the ill-treatment of two women who were sexually harassed and verbally assaulted in detention. One was forced to watch as security agents tortured her son and another woman was made to watch her husband being beaten. Lebanon passed an anti-torture law in 2017 but has failed to implement it, and torture complaints rarely reach court. He who can not be stopped by anyone.

Image
He who can not be stopped by anyone It was the time when the Spanish terrorized the indigenous people of South America. After the lost battle of Lagunillas (around 1500), the Spanish mutilated about 150 Mapuche warriors who had lost to them. They chopped off their right hands and cut off a piece of their noses. Because of this, the Mapuche became even more incensed against the Spaniards. Galvarino, a Mapuche chief, after having his right hand chopped off, nonchalantly offered the Spaniards his right hand as well. He then asked to be killed. But Governor García Hurtado de Mendoza released him, along with the other mutilated warriors. They were to serve as a deterrent to others. Galvarino immediately met with the Mapuche chief leader and asked him to be allowed to administer justice. They gave him a squadron of men to take with him. Galvarino had lances tied to his stumps. The Battle of Millarapue followed in which Galvarino again fought Governor Mendoza and his s

When the US military pushed helicopters overboard to make room for the last evacuees of the Vietnam War, 1975 On the last two days in April 1975, Operation Frequent Wind, the evacuation of Vietnam, ended a twenty-year agony for the United States. A trial for America was done. The last 45 days of her presence in South Vietnam may seem almost insignificant compared to the previous decades of pain. But, in continuous effort under ever-increasing pressure, the US Embassy in Saigon, and its Defense Attache Office (DAO) there, helped plan, prepare for, and ultimately conduct, the final evacuation from South Vietnam. Operation Frequent Wind extracted 130,000 people including: Vietnamese citizens, Third Country Nationals, and US citizens — a truly important feat. Faced with hundreds of hard decisions, enormous logistical requirements, continuous security problems, and the threat of enemy military action, American civilians and the military men conducted an efficient evacuation. A father and son dialogue

The little boy put on his clothes for the cold and then told his father: "Ok dad I'm ready" His Dad, the pastor, said: "Ready for what?" "Dad, it's time to go outside and distribute our flyers." Dad replied: "Son, it's very cold outside and it's drizzling." The child looked surprised at his father and said: "But dad, people need to know about God even on rainy days." Dad replied, "Son, I'm not going outside in this weather." With despair, the child said: "Dad, can I go alone? Please!" His father waited for a moment and then said: "Son, you can go. Here's the flyers, be careful." "Thank you dad!" And with this, the son went out into the rain. The 11-Year-old walked all the streets of the village, handing out the flyers to the people he saw. After 2 hours walking in the rain and cold and with his last flyer in his hand, he stopped at a corner to see if he saw someone to give

World's Hairiest Man Has Hair Covering 98 Percent of His Body(Photos) With 98 percent of his entire body covered, the California man is officially the world's hairiest. Larry Gomez is teaching the world about loving the hair he’s in. “Being one of the hairiest guys in the world makes me special and I’m famous too,” Gomez, aka "Wolf Man," told Caters News. “Not many people in the world have this condition — I believe ," six or eight people — and I am the hairiest one.” The excess body hair is caused by a rare genetic disorder known as hypertrichosis that affects less than 100 people in the world. It also affects some of his family members, although women with the condition have slightly finer hair. He explains he gets a haircut about once a month, but the hair grows back just as thick. "Some people ask if it’s itchy," Gomez joked. "No, this is my normal life." He explained that in his childhood he

Lucky British soldier shows off his damaged helmet, 1917 This soldier, on the way to hospital after being bandaged at Field Dressing Station, shows the helmet which saved his life. A British soldier with a bandaged head smiles as he shows the cameraman his helmet and the large hole blown straight through it. His smile says it all. Back then the main reason for wearing a helmet wasn’t protection from gunfire, but from shrapnel from exploding artillery shells. The original caption reads:  “Saved by shrapnel helmet. This soldier, on the way to hospital after being bandaged at Field Dressing Station, shows the helmet which saved his life” . This photograph would have made ideal propaganda material as its accompanying caption demonstrates. The soldier in the middle of the scene is happy and triumphant. Despite the bandaging on his head, he is still carrying all his equipment and looks ready for action. In 1915, 65% of British casualties were head injuries from artillery fire. During the fi

MME. ABOMAH: "THE AFRICAN GIANTESS" WHO WAS ONCE THE TALLEST WOMAN IN THE WORLD Ella Williams (Mme Abomah) was once the world`s tallest lady in the late 1800`s and early 1900`s. She was reputed to be 7ft 6inch giantess. Though she was born in South Carolina in USA, her show manager claimed she was born In Dahomey (now Republic of Benin). Born in South Carolina in Oct. of 1865, Ella Grigsby narrowly missed being born a slave as the 13th Amendment to the U.S Constitution was ratified only 10 months previous. Ella came to work for Elihu and Harriet Williams when as a teenager. Because Grigsby was the family name of her parent's slave holders, Ella took the Williams surname as her own. Abomah claimed none of her other siblings were unusually large and she had been contacted by various vaudeville and circus promoters to sign a contract and tour as a giantess, but always refused. However, while working as a cook in her native South Carolina, she agreed to be hired by Frank C. B

ALWAYS CHECK ON YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

Image
ALWAYS CHECK ON YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS.  We live in a generation where families no longer sit down together as a unit. Everyone is nowadays living on his own, no phone calls, no SMS, no visiting, I mean no communication at all.  Most people do that maybe because they don't have time, or they had a misunderstanding with one of the family members, or maybe because they feel like they don't need them, family, anymore.  What you are forgetting is, that you can never make it when you are alone.  Find a friend you can trust and call when things go bad with you. Find a family, it doesn't have to be all the family members, find one person you can easily reach out to whenever you experience some problems in your life.  Lonely life is good, but it's bad too when a calamity strikes. Imagine if that was your body found thereafter rotting, what do you think led to that?  No friends, no relatives, no one to talk to, living a lonely life such that your presence or absence doesn't

Mary Turner, Pregnant, Lynched in Georgia for Publicly Criticizing Husband's Lynching

How White Mob Brutally Lynched  A  Pregnant Black Woman, Mary Turner In  1918. It has been one hundred years since the lynching of Mary Turner, a young pregnant black mother of two, by a white mob on May 19, 1918, just a day after her husband, Hazel Turner, was killed. Turner was killed beside a river in Georgia, between Lownde and Brooks counties, for opposing the lynching of her husband, who was killed during a raid by a white mob after a white plantation owner in Brooks County was murdered by one of his black laborers. The lynchings and racially motivated violence perpetrated by whites against black people in the American south peaked around this time. Thousands of black people were lynched, including women. Mary Turner's ordeal began with the assassination of Hampton Smith, a 25-year-old abusive farm owner who owned the Old Joyce Place, a big plantation outside Morven, Georgia, in Brooks County. Smith is infamous for abusing his employees, notably Mary Turner, whose husband was

The true story! A girl was living with her uncle because her parents died of HIV. She was the only child of her mother's belly. She was educated by her uncle from kindergarten to class 4 and when the girl was in class 4, her uncle saw that the girl was beautiful. One night, he went to the girl's room and told her that if she didn't play with him, he would take her away from home and stop paying her tuition fees. The girl tried to cry for her uncle, but he refused to understand. The young girl agreed to leave her uncle's place and went to the street suffering, while crying, being hungry, lonely and the last option she had was to get on her knees and pray to God until What God answers to prayer. A woman came by car and saw the young girl praying. She stopped and asked the girl to get in the car. She took the girl and brought her back to school, she bought it all for her as a girl. The girl has completed her studies and, as we speak, she completed her university studies an

The 21st April 753 BC is traditionally the date of the founding of Rome by twin brothers Romulus and Remus.  Romulus would later murder Remus.   Legend has it that they were abandoned as babies by their parents and put into a basket and then placed into the River Tiber. The basket was discovered by a female wolf who nursed the babies for a short time before they were found by a shepherd. It was the shepherd who brought up the twins.
