They may be labeled as outcasts or rebels, but in reality, they're the ones who are brave enough to challenge the status quo and forge their own path. Let's celebrate the black sheep in our lives - the ones who inspire us to think differently, to question the norms, and to embrace our individuality.

Abandoned quadruplets receive aid.

MUKONO -  Musician Bettina Namukasa has come to the rescue of quadruplets abandoned by their father in the hospital after their birth on January 9, 2022.

Rebecca Mbabazi, 32, a resident of Bukasa-Kyetume village in Nakisunga sub-county, Mukono district, was abandoned by her husband believed to be a bodaboda rider.

Namukasa said she watched Mbabazi on Bukedde TV last month crying for help as the children were sick and admitted at Mukono Church of Uganda Hospital where they were delivered.

She handed over goodies, including 25kg of Sugar, rice, maize flour and pampers, a box of soap, a carton of salt, detergent, milk and cash.

“I, therefore, decided to do the delivery on my birthday. I am calling upon other goodhearted Ugandans to come to Mbabazi’s rescue,” she said.

By the time Namukasa and her team reached Mbabazi's home on November 9, 2022, afternoon, all four kids were suffering from an infection and were on treatment.

Mbabazi said that two of the babies have health complications with one having a heart complication and the other having hernia.

Namukasa castigated Mbabazi’s husband for abandoning her and the four children.

“Many young girls are suffering with children as single mothers because irresponsible men abandoned them. It is high time the government started handling such culprits with an iron hand,” she said.

Call other wellwishers
Mbabazi called for well-wishers to help her look after the children who are occasionally sick so that they can grow up well.

Namukasa castigated Mbabazi’s husband for abandoning her and the four children.

Struggling to get what to eat and milk to feed them, Mbabazi says she looks for casual work from her neighbourhood, but it is also risky as they need her presence all the time.

Doctor speaks out

Dr Simon Peter Nsingo, the medical director Mukono Church of Uganda Hospital, said the babies were premature at the time they were delivered, but they have steadily improved.

Nsingo said health abnormalities always happen to such babies who grow up in their mother’s womb struggling for food nutrients.

“We are keeping a close eye on them and God willing, they will grow up into adults,” he said.
