Mystery- The Haunted Town Of St. Nazianz, WI St. Nazians was founded by a priest who wholeheartedly believed to helped cursed the town. Over the years, the town has been hit with natural disasters and unexplained phenomena. Father Ambrose Oschwald was fled to Wisconsin in 1854 from religious persecution. The Roman Catholic Church had suspended him from his duties due to “mystical, prophetic, and heretical works.” Already, the scary history of the town is starting to make sense! Oddly enough, the congregation followed him. Once they got to Wisconsin, a “divine white heifer” lead them to the site of his new home which would become St. Nazianz. The community actually thrived. The My Lai massacre was a mass killing in the Vietnamese village of My Lai during the Vietnam War. As many as 500 people were killed. Women and children were gang r*ped with victims being as young as 12, with the village being set on fire.

Some factors played a role in the massacre. Dwindling morale among US troops, as well as drug addiction, stress, and inadequate training, made the soldiers unreliable in tense situations. The village was believed to be a communist stronghold, and the US troops were looking to root out communist strongholds in the jungle. The Vietnamese were also commonly dehumanized among US troops. Some of the troops became confused at orders given by officials and began to kill all village inhabitants.

Some of the US troops brutally executed the inhabitants using guns, bombs and other weapons.

The massacre only stopped when a US soldier named Hugh Thompson landed a helicopter between the civilians and the troops and threatened to open fire on the US soldiers.

Initially, the massacre was covered up by the US military. However, it was exposed in 1969 and it was featured in TIME magazine. It has been described as one of the worst war crimes the US committed during its time in Vietnam.
